I Care For Sustainability

We seek to provide a clean and comfortable environment and greater awareness of fresh, nutritious and organic food. We believe that if we take the control of our food supply, we can eliminate the worry of residual chemicals in our food. Plus, "planting your own food is like growing your own money."

The overarching objective of this proposal is to install an individual greenhouse in each of 16 plots of vacant land, all roughly 10 x 10 m2, that already belong to 16 corresponding impoverished families in the Raíces community in Zinacantepec, Toluca, State of Mexico.

We want to adapt the aforementioned project to reality, offering the community full support in the purchase, delivery, installation, operation, and maintenance of the greenhouses, as well as in all official details and documentation required for each greenhouse. In this way, we will support the community through the execution of this sustainable social project.
The project will be carried out under strict regulations and with the supervision of qualified personnel.

The Problem:
Despite tremendous global progress we have seen on many fronts, including technological, institutional, social, and other areas, inequality amongst us has been going in the opposite direction – it continues to worsen. This is especially true for underprivileged communities in Mexico, with millions of individuals lacking access to basic necessities including potable water, food, education, and healthcare.

We at the I Care Foundation aim to change all of this, but we need as much help as possible to make a significant difference on the lives of these communities.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, access to these necessities have decreased even further, leaving the families unable to feed their children 3 simple meals a day. We are trying to minimize the negative impacts this will have on the families and are trying to change the future for them so that they become entirely independent and self-sufficient.

Our Solution:
To help these families, our proposal is to build them individual greenhouses and teach them how to efficiently operate them and produce their own fruits and vegetables. Using evergreen crops, we will help them operate these greenhouses all year, which will produce enough food for their families, and extra as well, which can be redistributed or sold by them for small profits that they can accumulate with time to improve their overall livelihoods.

At the same time, we will educate them on best farming practices, modern trends, efficient irrigation methods, and more, to give them the tools they will need to maintain the greenhouses and potentially expand them in the future, giving them more business opportunities.

Project Description

Once the greenhouses have been installed and are operable, we will initiate the production of various horticultural crops. Other varieties will also be produced according to feasibility and the interests of the landowners. Each greenhouse will be made from a durable galvanized steel metal frame.
The project is designed to commence on February and conclude on July, 2021. That being said, the families will receive our support after this period as well, as we continuously collaborate with them on various projects and campaigns.
We will also educate the families on various relevant subjects, such as organic farming, modern/efficient irrigation techniques, temperature control, pest control, and more, through our in-house experts who are leading this project.
